Resilience Rising's residential program is an adult residential facility (ARF) licensed by the California Department of Social Services. Our six-bed program serves female-identifying youth ages 18-25 years old who are survivors of sexual exploitation, trafficking, or the sex trade. Our residential program is for those in need of 24-hour care, supervision, and treatment, generally related to mental health, behavior health, or substance abuse.
Description:
- responsible for the trauma-informed academic instruction and tutoring of up to six young adult survivors of sexual exploitation & trafficking in a congregate care setting
- ensures that every student adequately prepares for and ideally passes the GED
- may coach any or all of the following subjects: language arts, math, science, social studies
- assesses individual academic skill sets, monitors progress, provides support around deficits
- handles high levels of resistance, frustration, imposter syndrome, self-doubt among students
- remains encouraging, creative, flexible, and adaptive to meet students where they are
- responsive to special needs, including developmental delays (ASD, FASD), cognitive delays (SUD, TBI), academic delays due to absent, informal, & inconsistent schooling
- possesses the ability to simplify advanced concepts; the drive to persist alongside students at their own pace; the desire to learn how to best meet each student’s unique needs
- may support advanced students with higher learning opportunities
- may run weekly book clubs with multicultural curriculum allowing for reflections on historical trauma, systems of oppression, and identity development
- may lead weekly adulting workshops: health & hygiene, financial literacy, vocational skills, etc.

Requirements:
- female-identifying and at least 18 years of age
- satisfactory criminal background check
- medical clearance including TB test and up-to-date vaccinations
- minimum of high school diploma or GED
- Resilience Rising training academy modules
- 20 hours of professional development annually
Hours: The academic coach is a part-time position with the primary hours fulfilled during regular business hours (typically 2-5pm). The coach may teach one or multiple subjects, depending on skill set and preference.
Salary: The starting salary for the academic coach is…
- $19 per hour with a high school degree; $20 per hour with an associate’s degree; $21 per hour with a bachelor’s degree; $22 per hour with a master’s degree
- an annual raise of $1 per hour after each cumulative year of employment
- when resources are available, all onsite staff are eligible for a winter holiday bonus
