Overview
We are seeking a CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes and vertical CNC mills to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. We are a plastics machining shop that primarily machines thermoplastics, composites, and occasionally urethane materials. Experience machining plastics is preferred but not required. If your background is primarily in metals, we will train you on the materials, tooling, and techniques specific to plastics machining. Pay will be based on experience.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC machining centers, including CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs using CAM software, such as Mastercam.
- Interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications, and technical drawings to produce precise parts.
- Conduct precision measurements using tools like bore gauges, micrometers and calipers to verify part accuracy.
Skills
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with Haas controls is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of CAD software including Mastercam (and sometimes Bob Cad).
- Expertise in operating various precision measuring instruments like bore gauges, micrometers and calipers.
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling setups, fixtures, and machining processes.
- Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings with GD&T standards.
- Ability to perform math calculations related to machining operations involving geometry and tolerances.
