Survey Party Chief
PBLA Surveying is seeking an experienced and dependable Survey Party Chief to join our team. The Survey Party Chief will lead a field crew in performing a variety of land surveying and construction surveying services while ensuring accurate, efficient, and safe field operations.
The ideal candidate is a motivated professional with strong technical surveying skills, leadership abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a survey crew on land surveying and construction projects.
- Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction surveys.
- Perform construction staking and layout.
- Operate and maintain total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, and levels.
- Collect and document accurate field data and measurements.
- Read and interpret survey plans, legal descriptions, maps, and construction documents.
- Identify property lines, monuments, easements, utilities, and site improvements.
- Perform field calculations using surveying, geometry, and trigonometry principles.
- Communicate with project managers, surveyors, contractors, and clients as needed.
- Maintain equipment and follow company safety procedures.
- Work outdoors and travel to various project sites.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a Survey Party Chief, Crew Chief, or similar surveying position.
- Strong knowledge of land surveying and construction layout.
- Proficient with total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, and levels.
- Ability to read and interpret survey plans, construction plans, and legal descriptions.
- Knowledge of surveying mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
