CAD Detailer / Drafter – Custom Metal Fabrication
Metal Creations & Design is seeking an experienced CAD Detailer / Drafter to join our growing team.
We are a custom metal fabrication company specializing in high-end aluminum and steel railings, staircases, gates, balconies, and architectural metalwork throughout the Tampa Bay area.
We are looking for someone who can take field measurements, project plans, architectural drawings, and job information and turn them into accurate, detailed, shop-ready fabrication drawings.
This is a fast-paced position and a critical part of our production process. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and understands that our fabrication team relies on the accuracy and completeness of their drawings to build each project correctly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Create detailed CAD drawings for custom railings, staircases, gates, balconies, and architectural metalwork
- Convert field measurements and architectural plans into accurate fabrication drawings
- Develop shop drawings with complete dimensions, material sizes, connection details, and fabrication information
- Review project plans, specifications, and field measurements for accuracy
- Identify missing information or potential conflicts before drawings are released to production
- Make revisions based on customer, contractor, or internal feedback
- Work closely with project management, production, and fabrication teams
- Maintain organized drawing files and project documentation
- Help improve and standardize company drawing details and CAD processes
- Manage multiple projects and drawing deadlines simultaneously
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of CAD drafting or detailing experience preferred
- Proficient in DraftSight or similar CAD software
- Strong understanding of dimensions, elevations, sections, and construction drawings
- Ability to read architectural and construction plans
- Metal fabrication, railing, staircase, structural steel, or miscellaneous metals experience is strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
What We Are Looking For:
We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to operate CAD software. We need a detailer who understands how drawings translate into fabrication.
Our shop needs clear, accurate, and complete drawings that allow our fabricators to build a project without constantly stopping to ask questions or track down missing information.
Experience with custom metal fabrication, miscellaneous metals, railings, or stair systems is a major advantage.

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Compensation: Competitive pay based on experience
