Assistant Infant TeacherPosition Summary
The Assistant Infant Teacher supports the Lead Infant Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment for infants. This position assists with daily care routines, developmental activities, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom while building positive relationships with children and families.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and responsive care to infants at all times.
- Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, sleeping, and other daily care routines.
- Support age-appropriate activities that encourage infant development and exploration.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Follow individual feeding, sleeping, and care schedules as directed by families and classroom staff.
- Observe and respond to infants' needs with patience, warmth, and consistency.
- Maintain accurate records related to feeding, diapering, sleeping, and daily activities.
- Communicate professionally with families and coworkers.
- Follow all center policies, health and safety procedures, and licensing requirements.
- Assist in maintaining required staff-to-child ratios and active supervision at all times.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Must meet all state requirements for childcare staff.
- Experience working with infants preferred.
- Ability to provide nurturing, responsive care to young children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry infants and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, reach, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
- Ability to safely feed, diaper, lift, and comfort infants as needed.
Performance Expectations
Assistant Infant Teachers are expected to provide warm, responsive care, maintain a safe and healthy environment, follow classroom routines, work cooperatively with team members, and support the healthy growth and development of each infant in their care.
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
