Department of Environmental Services,
Wastewater Engineering and Construction Division has three (3) vacancies for an
Engineering Support Technician III in Honolulu. There is one vacancy each in the Plant Engineering Branch, Collection Systems Engineering Branch, and Construction Management Branch. This position performs the most difficult and complex subprofessional, technical functions in general support of the licensed engineers to fulfill the responsibilities of the Branch.
What You Will Do-
Perform technical and professional work related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of assigned programs, facilities, or projects.

Perform project control functions and support Standard Operating Procedure development and documentation.

Conduct research, field inspections, investigations, and analyses to evaluate conditions and develop recommendations.

Prepare, review, and maintain reports, plans, specifications, records, and other technical documents.

Coordinate and communicate with staff, contractors, agencies, and the public regarding assigned work activities.

Assist with budget monitoring and analysis.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Five years of technical experience in engineering oriented support functions such as in research, data collection and analysis, inspection, testing, designing, surveying and/or drafting activities.
Must be able to:

Apply engineering principles, practices, and technical knowledge to solve a variety of engineering-related problems.

Perform mathematical calculations and analyze technical data to support engineering projects and studies.

Conduct research, testing, and evaluations of equipment, systems, materials, and processes.

Read, interpret, and prepare technical plans, specifications, drawings, reports, charts, and other engineering documents.

Communicate effectively, exercise sound judgment, and coordinate or supervise work assignments as needed.
Desirable Experience: Extensive computer/database management skills.
Substitution:
-
An Associate's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in Engineering Technology or Natural Sciences will substitute for two of the required five years of experience.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or in a Biological or Physical Science will substitute for three of the required five years of experience.
