Duties
- Greet patients and customers warmly, providing excellent customer service and addressing their inquiries with professionalism.
- Process prescription transactions accurately using pharmacy software, including data entry and payment processing.
- Verify patient information, insurance details, and prescription data to ensure accuracy and compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and pharmacy policies.
- Assist pharmacists with medication pick-up, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to pharmaceutical regulations.
- Support inventory management by tracking medication stock levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with stock organization.
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff to facilitate smooth workflow during busy hours, including basic pharmaceutical calculations when needed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, community pharmacy, or hospital pharmacy is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, drug regulation, and state healthcare laws.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and data entry procedures.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively using medical terminology and pharmacological language.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation, sterile IV admixture procedures, aseptic technique, and compounding medications is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality while handling sensitive information accurately.
