Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable, skilled and service-focused Hotel Line Cook - PM Shift to join our kitchen team. This position is responsible for preparing food items for evening restaurant/bar service, completing prep work, supporting food quality and presentation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and helping ensure guests receive a consistent and enjoyable dining experience.
The Hotel Line Cook - PM Shift plays an important role in supporting Verta Bar & Grill, hotel food and beverage operations, meeting/event needs and guest satisfaction. This position is ideal for someone with kitchen experience who can work efficiently, follow recipes and standards, communicate well with the team and maintain quality during evening service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and plate food items according to hotel standards, recipes and guest expectations
- Support evening restaurant, bar, meeting, event and guest food service operations
- Complete assigned prep work, station setup, food production and closing duties
- Maintain proper food temperatures, portion control, quality and presentation
- Stock, organize and maintain assigned kitchen stations throughout the shift
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, storage, labeling and rotation procedures
- Assist with banquet, group, meeting, event or special food service needs as assigned
- Monitor product levels and communicate food, supply or equipment needs to kitchen leadership
- Work with servers, bartenders, banquet team members and hotel leadership to support timely service
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, utensils and kitchen surfaces throughout the shift
- Assist with dishwashing, trash removal, kitchen organization and closing duties as needed
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns or food quality concerns to leadership
- Follow all company, hotel, brand, health department and safety standards
Qualifications
Required
- Previous cooking, line cook, prep cook, restaurant, hotel kitchen or related food service experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food handling and kitchen cleanliness
- Ability to follow recipes, production instructions and hotel food service standards
- Ability to work efficiently during evening service and handle multiple food orders or tasks
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry and complete physical kitchen work throughout the shift
- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in food quality and presentation
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work evening shifts, weekends and holidays as needed
Preferred
- Previous hotel line cook, restaurant line cook, banquet cook or full-service kitchen experience
- Experience working in a Marriott, Delta Hotels by Marriott, Wyndham, Hilton, IHG or other branded hotel environment
- Food handler certification or ability to obtain required certification
- Experience supporting restaurant/bar service, banquets, meetings, groups or event food production
- Knife skills, prep skills, plating experience and basic culinary knowledge
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are a plus
