Duties
- Install, modify, and repair commercial ductwork systems following schematics, HVAC design plans, and building codes.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to assemble duct components accurately and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot mechanical systems, including HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning / Refrigeration) units, ensuring proper operation and system integrity.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics on HVAC systems, including electrical systems within ductwork assemblies and building automation systems.
- Perform equipment troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC components such as fans, dampers, filters, boilers, and air conditioning units.
- Read schematics and technical drawings to ensure precise installation aligned with engineering specifications.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols, including proper handling of refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations and safe use of hand tools.
- Collaborate with service technicians and other trades to coordinate system installation or maintenance projects for seamless operations.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients about system performance and maintenance needs.
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance of mechanical systems to optimize efficiency and prolong equipment lifespan.
Experience
- Proven construction experience with a focus on HVAC system installation or ductwork assembly in commercial settings.
- Service technician experience working with HVAC/R systems, electrical diagnostics, or plumbing is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with reading schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans is essential for accurate installation.
- Mechanical knowledge related to HVAC system repair, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, air conditioning units, and appliance repair.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, ohmmeters (for electrical testing), and other equipment repair tools.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), electrical systems integration, and HVAC system troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to operate a <PERSON> driver or similar vehicles safely for transporting materials or equipment to job sites.
- Strong customer service skills combined with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently.
- EPA certification or equivalent knowledge of refrigerant handling regulations is required for safe refrigerant management.
- Mechanical aptitude for diagnosing issues within mechanical systems repair or HVAC system maintenance tasks.
