Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Hospice Volunteers to provide support and companionship to patients in end-of-life care. This rewarding role involves offering emotional comfort, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring patients feel valued and cared for during their most vulnerable times. Volunteers play a vital part in enhancing the quality of life for individuals facing serious illnesses, including those with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other chronic conditions. Prior experience in healthcare or caregiving is beneficial but not required; training will be provided to ensure volunteers are well-prepared to meet patient needs with sensitivity and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Offer companionship and emotional support to hospice patients, fostering a comforting environment.
- Support patients with memory care needs, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and other specialized conditions through engaging activities and attentive presence.
- Help with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Provide respite for family caregivers by offering companionship or performing routine tasks.
Experience
Candidates with backgrounds in home health, nursing, assisted living, senior care, long-term care, or social work are highly valued. Experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental disabilities, autism, or in hospice care settings is advantageous. Skills such as patient observation, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, dementia or memory care expertise, and familiarity with HIPAA compliance are preferred. Prior roles involving caregiving, home & community care experience, working in nursing homes or group homes, or assisting with ADLs will strengthen applications. All applicants must demonstrate a genuine compassion for seniors and individuals facing serious health challenges; training will be provided to ensure volunteers are confident in their roles. Pay: $1.00 - $1.01 per hour
