Position Summary
The Parts Manager leads the day-to-day operation of Allied's parts department and is accountable for inventory accuracy, purchasing, availability, cost control, vendor performance, and timely support of shop and field operations. This role ensures mechanics, technicians, drilling crews, and project teams have the correct parts and supplies needed to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. The Parts Manager also establishes department procedures, supervises parts staff, and maintains reliable inventory and purchasing records in a fast-paced drilling, construction, and heavy-equipment environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and organize all parts-department activities, including purchasing, receiving, stocking, issuing, returns, warranties, cores, and special orders.
Supervise, train, schedule, and support parts clerks or assistants; establish clear priorities, service standards, and accountability.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels and reorder points while preventing shortages, duplicate purchases, excess stock, and obsolete inventory.
Forecast parts and supply needs using preventive-maintenance schedules, equipment utilization, repair history, active project requirements, and input from shop and field leadership.
Source parts for drilling rigs and heavy equipment, including Schramm, Versa, GEFCO, compressors, boosters, mud pumps, trucks, trailers, generators, and support equipment.
Develop and maintain vendor relationships; negotiate pricing, availability, freight, payment terms, and delivery timelines while identifying reliable alternate suppliers.
Review purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, credits, and discrepancies to ensure accurate quantities, pricing, approvals, and financial coding.
Ensure all parts issued are accurately assigned to the correct asset, work order, project, department, or cost code in the inventory-management system.
Manage physical inventories, cycle counts, bin audits, and inventory reconciliations; investigate variances and implement corrective action.
Maintain an organized warehouse and secure storage system with clear labeling, accurate bin locations, controlled access, and safe material handling.
Coordinate urgent and after-hours parts needs for equipment breakdowns and field operations, including shipment, pickup, and delivery when required.
Track department performance and provide reporting on inventory accuracy, purchasing activity, backorders, vendor performance, stockouts, costs, and slow-moving inventory.
Partner with shop leadership, mechanics, project managers, accounting, and field personnel to improve equipment uptime and control operating costs.
Ensure compliance with company purchasing procedures, safety requirements, warranty processes, and warehouse best practices.

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical, supply-chain, business, or related education is preferred.
Four or more years of progressive parts, inventory, purchasing, warehouse, fleet, or equipment-support experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
Strong knowledge of diesel, heavy-equipment, drilling, construction, industrial, or commercial-truck parts and components.
Demonstrated experience with inventory controls, purchasing, vendor negotiation, warranty claims, cost tracking, and reconciliation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and inventory or fleet-management software; Fullbay experience is strongly preferred.
Strong leadership, organization, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally or regionally to vendors and jobsites as operational needs require.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 51-100 pounds occasionally and 26-50 pounds frequently, with assistance or lifting equipment when appropriate.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and walk up to five miles throughout the workday.
Ability to repeatedly reach, lift overhead, bend, kneel, squat, climb, twist, and rotate while performing daily duties.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
