We are currently looking to hire a dedicated and compassionate individual for the position of Weekend Evening Shelter Monitor. The hours for this shift are from 2:30 pm until 11:30 pm. We are currently looking for someone to cover these evening shift hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The role of Evening Shelter Monitor will involve working as a proactive team member, with the Evening Case Manager, volunteers, and clients, to ensure the overall safety and effectiveness of the shelter program. This position includes the following areas of responsibility:
- Utilizing strong communication skills, including effective listening, to guide and assist volunteers and to collect follow-up information from shelter guests.
- Complying with implemented agency procedures, such as shelter rules, confidentiality, and making appropriate decisions.
- Being empathetic towards our clients and their needs.
- Proficiency with typing, navigating a computer, and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Following through with ensuring smooth shelter operations, including helping to fulfill volunteer responsibilities as needed, assisting with the check-in process for returning clients, conducting walk through safety checks, and supervising scheduled smoke breaks.
- Documenting client interactions throughout the shift as a means of being a contributing team member.
- Completing other assignments given by the Case Managers and the Program Director.

Following the Chain of Command:
- Responsible to the Program Director.
- Being willing to complete other assignments that may not be identified at this time.
- Understand and implement all board approved policies of Illinois Valley PADS which apply to the focus of the shelter. (Please see Section 4 of the Policy Manual.)
- Implement and understand all employment rules and expectations, along with the Conflict of Interest and Leave/Vacation Time policies.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
