Fryer Excavating has been a trusted name in excavation and utility construction for over 20 years. We are looking to add an experienced Utility Equipment Operator to our team, with a strong background in waterline and underground utility construction.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating heavy equipment in roadways, rights-of-way, residential areas, and active construction sites. Experience working around existing utilities and performing waterline installation is strongly preferred.
Pay is based on experience, qualifications, and licenses/certifications. A large portion of our work is performed on prevailing wage projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment
- Waterline installation experience strongly preferred
- Experience excavating around existing underground utilities
- Ability to excavate and maintain proper line and grade
- Experience with trenching, bedding, backfill, and utility restoration
- Knowledge of water mains, service lines, valves, hydrants, fittings, and related utility infrastructure
- Additional experience with sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas, and electrical conduit is a plus
- Strong understanding of construction site and excavation safety
- Mechanical knowledge and ability to identify basic equipment issues
- Valid driver's license preferred
- CDL and applicable operator/utilities licenses or certifications are a plus
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment for waterline and underground utility construction
- Excavate trenches to proper depth, line, and grade
- Work safely around existing utilities, structures, roadways, and the public
- Assist with water main, service line, valve, hydrant, and fitting installations
- Perform trench backfill, grading, and restoration as required
- Coordinate with foremen, laborers, pipefitters, and other crew members
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs
- Follow all company, OSHA, project, and jobsite safety requirements
- Assist with other utility and excavation operations as needed

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour
