The Lead Teacher will have an understanding and ability to put into practice and advocate for the following guiding principles: culturally and linguistically competent, child and family centered practice; natural learning environments; learner focused approach; functional and meaningful activities/supports; and operation from a systems perspective.
- Create a secure and inviting environment which fosters exploration and discovery
- Encourage children’s curiosity about the world and teaches problem solving skills
- Establish stimulating Learning Centers in the classroom
- Make specific preparation to implement center-adopted curriculum and assessments
- Plan and conduct daily activities including preparation of educational materials to meet the needs of individual children and the developmental needs of the group
- Observe children and maintain anecdotal records regarding their growth, health, behavior and progress; share this information with parents and appropriate personnel
- Cooperate with families to meet individual goals for children
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences annually to keep parents informed of their child’s growth and development
- Guide, supervise and provide for safety of the children in class and the playground.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly indoor/outdoor classroom
- Perform other job-related duties requested by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- CDA in Early Childhood Education or higher.
- At least 1 year of experience in Early Childhood Education
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Strong organizational and communication skills
