Job Summary
Northland Management Services is a restaurant management company operating restaurants in the Quick Service industry. The Director of Accounting is responsible for the management and maintenance of Company accounting functions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformity to the standards defined within the department in prescribed intervals (monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc)
- Prepare initial year-end financial report and coordinate final results with public accounting firm
- Participate and coordinate internal/external audits schedule and requirements.
- Monitor and analyze monthly overhead expenditures to justify and/or correct budget variances.
- Verify day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, cash receipts, cash disbursements, cash reporting and planning, and accounting for all financial transactions and resolve any discrepancies.
- Works with senior leadership on appropriate fiscal strategies for the organization.
- Develops systems for the maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies.
- Prepares ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Reports sales tax to meet all requirements.
- Completes reconciliations of records.
- Completion of timely month-end journal entries and bank reconciliations in prescribed intervals (monthly, quarterly, yearly, etc)
- Daily treasury management
- Ensure financial and accounting functions, financial controls, and records meet all federal, state, local and company regulatory requirements.
- Documents internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, plus five (5) or more years of accounting experience.
- Ability to successfully multi-task in a deadline based environment
- Excellent planning, organizing, and interpersonal skills
- Advanced level of experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, etc.
- Views the position as providing both internal and external customer services
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Valid Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance
Preferred Experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Knowledge of and experience with: Great Plains Software, Management Reporter
Supervisory Responsibility
- The Director of Accounting has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but collaborates with other departments and employees, as well as external contacts

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
