We are looking for an experienced Director of Corporate and Governance Affairs to provide strategic leadership and high-level administrative support for a growing healthcare organization in Bakersfield, California. This position partners closely with the Chief of Staff and executive leadership to strengthen governance operations, coordinate executive priorities, and support compliant communication with board members, regulators, and community stakeholders. The role is well suited for an individual who can manage sensitive matters with discretion while guiding teams, advancing projects, and ensuring smooth corporate administration.
Responsibilities:
- Direct executive office operations by coordinating priority schedules, arranging travel, and ensuring leadership commitments are planned and executed efficiently.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through completion, balancing competing deadlines and resolving issues in a timely, solutions-oriented manner.
- Serve as a central point of coordination between executive leadership and internal departments to promote clear communication, alignment, and follow-through.
- Prepare executive correspondence, internal memoranda, reports, and presentation materials that support informed decision-making and organizational priorities.
- Oversee corporate governance activities, including board and committee calendars, meeting agendas, retreats, and related events, while ensuring documentation is accurate and complete.
- Attend leadership, board, and committee meetings and guide the preparation of minutes, action items, and status tracking to support timely completion of next steps.
- Supervise corporate and governance staff, contribute to hiring and performance evaluation efforts, and foster ongoing development across the team.
- Monitor governance practices and regulatory expectations to help maintain compliance with bylaws, board requirements, and applicable organizational standards.
- Manage administrative support functions such as routing executive correspondence, tracking departmental leave schedules, and maintaining office supply inventory.
- Collaborate with departments across the organization and travel as needed to support corporate, governance, and executive office initiatives.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in corporate administration, governance support, executive operations, human resources leadership, or a related field.
- Demonstrated background managing sensitive communications and maintaining confidentiality when working with executives, board members, and external stakeholders.
- Experience leading staff, assigning priorities, and supporting employee development in a detail-focused administrative or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of compliance practices, corporate governance processes, and policy-driven administrative operations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once, respond effectively to shifting priorities, and deliver results under deadline pressure.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft formal correspondence, reports, agendas, and presentation materials.
- Proficiency in HR administration areas such as employee relations, benefits, compensation practices, and HR compliance is strongly preferred.
