Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Staff to provide essential support and assistance to individuals with diverse needs in various care settings. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure resident health and safety.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and maintain detailed documentation within electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other memory impairments through tailored activities and behavioral management strategies.
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and hydration to promote nutritional well-being.
- Utilize manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe transfers and prevent injury.
- Engage residents in social activities and recreational programs that foster independence and community involvement.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control procedures, including cleaning resident areas and equipment regularly.
- Document care activities thoroughly while adhering to privacy regulations; communicate effectively with team members regarding resident needs.
- Drive residents when required for appointments or community outings, ensuring safety at all times.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, geriatrics, and long-term care practices.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and provide personal care with compassion and professionalism.
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is required; additional training in medication administration is preferred.
- Experience operating EMR systems for documentation purposes; familiarity with Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physically demanding tasks associated with caregiving roles.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for transportation duties; a clean driving record is preferred.
