Job Overview
An Operating Room (OR) Nurse at AdventHealth Surgery Center Blue Springs coordinates perioperative care for scheduled, outpatient surgeries utilizing advanced surgical technology. This position features a predictable, daytime schedule with no overnight call requirements. The caseload focuses on outpatient orthopedics, gynecology, podiatry, and ophthalmology, including procedures using the facility's VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution for knee replacements.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the unsterile environment, leads mandatory surgical "Time Outs," documents intraoperative care, and advocates for sedated patients.
- Opens sterile supplies safely, continuously monitors the sterile field for breaks in technique, and supports the scrub personnel.
- Performs meticulous, collaborative counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the scrub personnel before, during, and after surgical interventions.
- Drives rapid sanitization and room resets to maintain a high-volume, on-time elective surgical schedule.
- Safely collects, identifies, labels, and preserves surgical specimens according to facility policies.
- Ensure accurate medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or Epic
- Valid nursing license with current registration in the relevant state or country
- OR experience with demonstrated proficiency in surgical procedures and perioperative care
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as HST, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation purposes

Pay: $43.00 - $45.00 per hour
