Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Part-Time Certified Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs across homebound, virtual, on-campus, and community-based settings. The ideal candidate is an exceptional educator with strong behavior management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for helping students achieve meaningful academic, social-emotional, and functional growth through personalized instruction.
Duties:
- Provide high-quality individualized and small-group instruction in core academic subjects across on-campus, virtual, or homebound learning environments.
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons tailored to each student's unique learning profile, educational goals, and Individualized Learning Plan (ILP).
- Differentiate instruction using evidence-based, trauma-informed, and executive functioning strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Foster safe, structured, and positive learning environments through proactive behavior management, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and individualized behavior support strategies.
- Support students' academic, social-emotional, functional, and behavioral development by implementing individualized interventions that promote confidence, independence, and student success.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate academic, behavioral, attendance, and progress-monitoring data to inform instructional decisions and document student growth.
- Complete all required documentation, grading, progress reports, and student records in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate closely with families, related service providers, and the Executive Director to ensure coordinated, student-centered support.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress, instructional strategies, behavioral supports, and educational goals.
- Travel to assigned homebound instructional locations as needed while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with all school policies and state regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training to remain current with best practices in special education, behavior management, and instructional methodologies.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students while maintaining high expectations that foster resilience, independence, and lifelong learning.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Ability to adapt instruction to a range of learning styles and abilities.
- Demonstrates professionalism, collaboration, and a growth mindset.
- Arizona Special Education Certificate in Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe K–12 or Cross-Cat Special Education Certificate.
- Valid or obtainable Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (required).
- Strong skills in classroom management, lesson planning, and differentiation.
- Strong content knowledge (elementary through high school).
- Experience working with students with disabilities in classroom or virtual settings.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
