Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join our dynamic veterinary team. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals, including medical collection, animal husbandry, and assessment of animal anatomy to diagnose health issues accurately.
- Perform medical procedures such as animal catheterization, surgery, and critical care interventions following aseptic techniques and veterinary best practices.
- Assist with laboratory testing and interpret results to inform treatment plans; maintain accurate medical records using veterinary software.
- Handle animals safely and effectively, utilizing proper restraint techniques for various species including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication instructions, and preventive care strategies.
- Support kennel operations by maintaining cleanliness, feeding schedules, and overall animal care standards aligned with USDA regulations.
- Collaborate with front desk staff to ensure smooth clinic operations, including client communication and veterinary administrative support.
- Adhere to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations and other legal guidelines related to veterinary practice.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by participating in ongoing training such as dog training techniques or veterinary continuing education.
Qualifications
- Valid veterinary license with current state licensing requirements; experience working in a veterinary clinic setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal restraint techniques, and companion animal medicine.
- Hands-on experience with medical-surgical procedures, laboratory diagnostics, and emergency critical care.
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office applications for recordkeeping and communication purposes.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical information clearly and compassionately.
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely across different species with confidence in dog handling and general animal handling skills.
- Knowledge of veterinary drug regulations (DEA) and USDA compliance standards is a plus.
- Experience working with equine patients is desirable but not mandatory; a background in animal husbandry or pet care is advantageous.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail and high-quality patient care standards.
