American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Night Shift Acute Rehab Unit position requiring strong neuro skills and an active IL RN license.
-
Work in the Acute Rehab Unit (29 beds) of a post-acute continuing care hospital
-
Patient population includes neuro, neurosurgery, amputation, multi-trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases (trachs, no vents)
-
Patient ratios are 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
-
Nurse aide support available at a 1:9-10 ratio
-
PT/OT/ST services available on the unit
-
Tele packs used but not monitored by RN; heparin is the only common titratable drip and RNs are not required to titrate drips
-
CPAP/BiPAP used at night for sleep apnea and nasal cannula, including high flow (non-heated)
-
12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
-
Required to work every other weekend and rotate holidays every other holiday
-
No call or standby requirements

Floating required to LTAC or Med-Surg units (not to HAU unless trained)

Uses EPIC EMR

Required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab

Active IL RN license required
-
Current BLS (AHA) certification required
-
Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required

Strong neuro nursing skills required
-
BSN not required for this position
-
Provide direct patient care for a complex rehabilitation population including neuro, cardiac, and multi-trauma cases
-
Participate in unit-specific orientation including 2 days of classroom training followed by 2-3 shifts with a preceptor to learn QRP and rehab-specific documentation
-
Dress code allows any color scrubs, but t-shirts are not permitted unless approved

House supervisors oversee the unit; there are no charge nurses
-
Facility is a Drug-Free Campus and requires a negative drug screen for all panels
-
COVID vaccination is not required for this position
-
Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a reduced local pay rate

First-time travelers may be considered for this position
