The Caregiver works under the supervision of the Home Services Coordinator and performs tasks that contribute to the client's comfort and safety in the home.
Observation of client functioning and reporting changes to his/her supervisor or employer.
Functions within the limitations of the individual assignment.
Attends to the client's requests promptly.
Assistance with activities of daily living and personal care.
Provides companionship, socialization, and housekeeping services.
Assists with medication reminding. Which can include:
Inquiries as to whether medications were taken.
Verbal prompting to take medications.
Handing the appropriately marked medication reminder container to the client.
Opening the appropriately marked medication reminder container for the client if the client is physically unable to open the container.
Assists with meal planning, purchase of food, and food preparation.
Assists clients to live in a clean and safe environment:
Cleans bathrooms and kitchen, including stove and refrigerator.
Personal errands, per client and Agency request.
Laundry.
Vacuuming and dusting.
Changing bed linens.
Knows and follows infection control policies including proper hand washing techniques.
Maintains appropriate communication with supervisory staff and with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
Documents care given and pertinent observations accurately as directed by the home service coordinator.
Treats clients and families with respect. Maintains confidentiality.
Accepts and fulfills assignments with the Agency. Exercises judgment in accepting assignments.
Attends required in-service programs per Agency policy.
