Responsibilities
Assist healthcare providers by preparing examination rooms and ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ready for patient appointments.
Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens for laboratory testing, administering medications under supervision, and assisting with procedures like X-rays or phlebotomy.
Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), accurately documenting patient information, medical histories, ICD coding, and treatment plans.
Support patient intake processes by verifying insurance details, updating medical histories, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and compassion.
Monitor patient conditions during visits by assessing physiology knowledge and providing basic life support when necessary.
Coordinate with hospital teams for inpatient or outpatient care, including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics settings, ensuring seamless communication and documentation.
Maintain compliance with safety protocols related to infection control, medication administration, and emergency procedures within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment.
Experience
Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant in fast-paced healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, or urgent care centers is highly preferred.
Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management is essential for accurate documentation and efficient workflow.
Familiarity with dermatology procedures, hospital medicine practices, emergency medicine protocols, or outpatient clinic operations will be advantageous.
Knowledge of pharmacology principles, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding standards, and medical terminology is required to perform clinical duties effectively.
Inpatient experience in hospital environments—including Level I trauma centers or Level II trauma centers—demonstrates your ability to handle complex cases confidently.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory; additional certifications such as phlebotomy certification or X-ray technician credentials are a plus.
Experience working with diverse patient populations across geriatrics, medical-surgical units, or internal medicine clinics will help you succeed in this multifaceted role.
