Regent Construction, LLC | Liberty Harbor, Jersey City, New Jersey | Full-Time | On-Site / Field-Based
Build More Than One Project. Help Lead our Portfolio of Thousands of High-rise Units Across 50 acres of Waterfront Property.
Regent Construction is seeking an experienced Project Executive to provide hands-on leadership across a growing portfolio of ground-up multifamily, highrise, mixed-use, commercial, infrastructure, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
This is a senior construction leadership role with direct access to ownership and real authority over how projects are planned, designed, procured, and built.
We are looking for a builder who knows how to lead from both the field and the office. Someone who can walk a jobsite and resolve a difficult construction issue, challenge a design detail, negotiate a change order, push a critical procurement decision, work through a utility or municipal issue, and give ownership a clear recommendation on what needs to happen next.
This is not a narrow project management position. You will be a key operating leader within the construction organization, responsible for driving projects and teams from preconstruction through turnover.
What You'll Do
- Lead multiple projects and project teams from preconstruction, design development, budgeting and procurement through construction, occupancy, closeout and warranty.
- Drive field execution. Maintain a strong jobsite presence, work closely with superintendents and subcontractors, resolve field conditions, protect sequencing and ensure problems are addressed before work is covered or concealed.
- Own schedule and procurement. Establish priorities, monitor milestones, identify long-lead risks, drive purchasing decisions and implement recovery plans when projects fall behind.
- Manage cost and commercial performance. Review budgets, bids, contracts, purchase orders, pay applications, proposals and change orders. Challenge scope and pricing and identify cost exposure before it becomes a problem.
- Lead design and constructability coordination. Work directly with architects, engineers, consultants and trade partners to resolve conflicts and balance design intent with constructability, cost, schedule and long-term building performance.
- Manage permitting, utilities and agency coordination. Drive approvals, inspections and utility work while maintaining productive relationships with municipal officials, inspectors, engineers, utilities and other outside stakeholders.
- Protect quality and building performance. Establish expectations for QA/QC, investigate deficiencies and warranty issues, and drive corrective work involving structure, envelope, interiors, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other building systems.
- Lead and develop the construction team. Set expectations, establish operating procedures, mentor project managers and field staff, participate in hiring and performance management, and create accountability across the organization.
- Represent construction to ownership. Provide concise, reliable reporting on schedule, cost, risk and major decisions. Bring solutions, not simply problems, and follow decisions through to completion.
- Support existing properties as well as new development. Coordinate capital projects, repairs, infrastructure upgrades, shutdowns and complex building issues within operating assets when needed.
What We're Looking For
You are an experienced construction leader who has successfully delivered complex projects and is ready to take broad responsibility for an active high-rise development and construction portfolio.
You bring 12+ years of progressive construction experience, ideally including time as a Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, Director of Construction, Senior Superintendent or comparable leadership role.
Strong candidates will have significant experience with ground-up multifamily or mixed-use construction and a strong understanding of structural systems, building envelope, MEP coordination, interiors, site work and utilities.
You should also have demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement, contracts and change orders; leading superintendents and project management staff; coordinating architects and engineers; working with municipalities, inspectors and utilities; and communicating directly with senior ownership or clients.
Experience building in New Jersey, Jersey City, New York City or similarly complex urban environments is strongly preferred.
A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline is preferred, but we value a proven record of building successful projects and solving difficult construction problems just as highly.
The Person Who Will Thrive Here
You are hands-on without becoming a bottleneck.
You know when to get into the details and when to hold someone else accountable for solving them.
You ask the right questions before work starts. You understand what is happening in the field, not just what the report says is happening. You are commercially aware, technically strong and comfortable making decisions.
Most importantly, when something is unresolved, you take ownership of getting it resolved.
Why Regent Construction / Liberty Harbor
This role offers something increasingly difficult to find in a large construction organization: real proximity to the decisions that shape the project.
You will work directly with ownership and have meaningful influence over design, procurement, field operations, consultants, contractors and project strategy.
The portfolio provides variety and complexity, including ground-up construction, major building systems, utilities and infrastructure, occupied properties, renovations and future development opportunities.
For the right construction leader, this is an opportunity to have a visible impact not just on an individual project, but on how an entire portfolio gets built.
