We are currently looking for a Fleet Coordinator to assist our West Texas operations by ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient functioning of our fleet vehicles, trailers, equipment and forklifts. This role is based in Pecos, TX, and works Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (with occasional longer days). ASE or Ford certifications are highly preferred for this position.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain fleet vehicles in safe, functional condition by addressing operator complaints, conducting inspections, and completing required repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations, and other scheduled services.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical/electronic, brake, steering, and cooling systems, including air conditioning and engine cooling components.
- Verify vehicle serviceability through inspections, test drives, control adjustments, and system checks/updates.
- Inspect, charge, and replace batteries; change and repair tires on light and heavy equipment; pack and replace wheel bearings.
- Replace components such as shock absorbers, fan belts, radiator hoses, and u-joints.
- Perform general overhaul, tune-up, and repair work on automobiles, forklifts, and related power-driven equipment.
- Fabricate and modify parts and equipment as needed, and repair or overhaul equipment such as generators.
- Perform lubrication tasks, including crankcase draining and refilling, inspecting and filling gearboxes, replacing fittings, maintaining lubrication records, and replenishing stock.
- Schedule regular oil changes and other preventive maintenance services according to the established maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of time, materials, and parts used, and compile vehicle records by documenting all services and repairs.
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipts, and controlling costs by tracking warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
- Maintain vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and detailing.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Stay current on job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reviewing technical publications.
Required Experience / Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair (automotive, light/heavy equipment, or fleet environment).
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance, inspections, and documenting service records.
- Ability to safely operate and work on forklifts and other power-driven equipment (training or certification a plus).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for providing status updates and repair information to management.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time in a fast-paced field environment.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- ASE or Ford certifications are highly preferred.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
