To assist with hiring, training, onboarding and scheduling medical scribes. To perform the duties of a medical scribe, documenting a physician's patient encounters, locating medical records and laboratory results. As unlicensed and exclusively non-clinical, duties do not involve direct patient contact and does not engage in any type of patient care. To perform documentation under the provider's direction and on the provider's behalf, entering information into the patient's electronic chart. All documentation is reviewed and/or edited by the provider and signed with an attestation by the provider that the scribed chart accurately reflects all work performed by the provider. To develop a close working relationship with physicians, fellow scribes and administrators.
High school diploma or equivalent with completed coursework in medical terminology and/or anatomy and physiology and two (2) years experience in an administrative role or in a clinical institution required. Must: (1) Comply with all national and local laws regarding clinical encounter documentation, privacy and security; (2) Comply with departmental and health system policies and procedures; (3) Attend all required course work assigned by management; (4) possess basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management; and (5) be knowledgeable of English grammar & punctuation (6) understanding of medicolegal documentation, medical facility flow, efficiency management, medical terminology, pathophysiology, physical exam findings, evaluation and management billing basics, and ICD-10 documentation requirements. Preferred : Bachelor's degree in the sciences or health related field. Prior experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in the role of a medical scribe. Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.
