Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dog Trainer to join our location. Currently a boarding facility looking to expand its services with offering dog training. Dog trainer is responsible for his or her own clients in adjacent with the boarding facility clients. Services (other than puppy classes)and schedule will be at the trainers discretion. Pay is determined as a per customer basis, not hourly wages. Trainer decides pricing and own schedule. The pay is 50/50 for puppy classes. Private training will be 80(trainer)/20(FFPS).
Puppy classes are $250 for a minimum basic 6 class package (twice a week for 3 weeks), possible advanced 12 class package for $330 (twice a week for 6 weeks).
You will also have the freedom of charging as you see fit for each personal training (we have it currently set at 65 per session). We understand every dog is different.
- This is a 1099 position that allows you the freedom of choosing your work days and work load, while learning how to make the most of your tax benefits as an independent contractor. We want to help you grow as an independent contractor and entrepreneur.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dog training and animal care, with the ability to work effectively with various breeds and temperaments. This role involves teaching obedience and behavioral skills to dogs while ensuring a positive experience for both the animals and their owners.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to individual dogs' needs.
- Conduct group and private training sessions, focusing on obedience, socialization, and behavioral modification.
- Assess dogs’ behavior and progress, providing feedback to owners on techniques for reinforcement.
- Maintain a safe and clean training environment for both dogs and handlers.
- Collaborate with pet owners to address specific behavioral concerns and provide guidance on proper care.
- Educate clients about dog handling, care, and training techniques.
- Keep accurate records of training sessions, progress, and any incidents that occur during training.
Skills
- Proficiency in dog training techniques with a focus on positive reinforcement methods.
- Experience in veterinary settings is highly desirable; veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus.
- Strong dog handling skills, including animal restraint techniques when necessary.
- Knowledge of pet care practices, including grooming and general health maintenance.
- Familiarity with equine experience is beneficial but not required.
- Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as needed during training sessions or while managing equipment.
