Join our dynamic outpatient surgery center as a Pre/Post Operative Registered Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient recovery and comfort. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including vital signs, medical history review, and patient education on procedures and post-op care.
- Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring proper aseptic techniques, verifying consent forms, and establishing IV access when necessary.
- Monitor patients closely during the immediate postoperative period, managing pain, vital signs, and potential complications such as bleeding or adverse reactions.
- Assist with intraoperative procedures as needed, including suturing, catheter care, and maintaining sterile environments in the outpatient setting.
- Educate patients on post-surgical instructions, medication administration, wound care, and activity restrictions to promote optimal recovery.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including anesthesiology, surgical staff, and physical therapists—to ensure seamless patient care transitions from pre-op to post-op phases.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current state registration.
- Proven experience in outpatient surgery centers or ambulatory surgery environments is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, IV infusion.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as SIS for accurate documentation.
- Critical care experience or ICU background is advantageous for managing complex cases or emergencies.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assess patient physiology effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly about their care plans.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
