Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1400 students in grades N-12 and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The High School (9-12), established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on the Stanwich Road campus. GCDS seeks a School Security Officer to start in August 2026. This position works throughout the academic year and during portions of the 5-week summer camp program.
Responsibilities Include:

Maintain vigilant presence on campus grounds, including all athletic fields
-
Monitor all campus buildings by walking through each throughout the course of the school day
-
Approach and identify any suspicious persons and/or vehicles on campus
-
Maintain radio contact with the Director of Security and the Director of Facilities
-
Participate in lockdown and fire drills, and practice of evacuation procedures
-
Respond to any injury, illness, or accident reported on campus
-
Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 5-years of experience in law enforcement
-
Must hold or be able to legally possess a valid state of CT pistol permit
-
Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid
-
High School Diploma
-
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and ability to operate a vehicle, and the necessary equipment

Must have training and be proficient with the handling of a firearm
-
Commitment to being part of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community

Ability to maintain records and prepare written reports with accuracy

Proficiency with computer applications, including calendar, email, and database software
-
Ability to maintain a friendly demeanor, positive relationships, and effective communication with school personnel, parents, and local law enforcement

Ability to react quickly and calmly under emergency conditions

Ability to walk, run, and swim
