Performs a variety of landscaping duties: mows grass; plants flowers and shrubs; weed eats around signs and fence lines; edges curb lines; clears leaves, tree limbs and other debris from park areas; spreads and hauls ground cover, dirt, or mulch; applies herbicides and pesticides; prunes trees and shrubs; weeds flower beds; aerates and spreads grass seed; services irrigation systems; grooms and lines ball fields; and removes snow and ice, etc.
Performs maintenance and construction tasks for various parks and facilities: resurfaces and renovates playgrounds, fields and courts; paints buildings, equipment, and parking lots; repairs and assembles fences and playground equipment; and builds sets and staging, shelves and other items.
Performs general custodial duties at various parks and facilities: cleans parks, ball fields, restrooms, kitchens, locker rooms, meeting rooms, and other areas; vacuums carpets; hoses decks; scrubs and waxes floors; dusts; washes windows; empties trash; and sets ups and tears down staging, chairs, tables, bleachers, etc. for meetings, classes, tournaments, and events.
Performs various semi-skilled plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or carpentry projects at assigned buildings and facilities: conducts facility inspections; identifies and troubleshoots problems and needed repairs or replacements; cleans, installs, maintains, repairs, replaces and/or tests plumbing fixtures, electrical components, HVAC systems, and related equipment; and may perform minor metal fabrication.
Maintains, installs and repairs mechanical equipment at waterparks and ice rinks: performs preventative maintenance on pumps, strainers, water slides, stair and pool deck handrails, grates, pool decks, chemical feeding equipment, chlorinators, ice resurfaces, air handling equipment, hot water systems, and other building equipment and systems.
Maintains inventory of equipment, parts and supplies: gathers supplies and equipment to complete work assignments; transports supplies to and from work site; initiates orders for materials and equipment needed; and maintains related documentation.
Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, and cleaning shop and work areas: monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; and reports faulty equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by three years of experience in facility, parks, and landscape maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Special License(s) or Certification(s) Required: Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license.
