Purpose of the role
The Mortgage Document Specialist is a full-time, on-site position based at our Governors Hill corporate office, located in Symmes Township, Ohio. This position is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and managing mortgage-related closing documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Document preparation skills, including experience with mortgage closing documents (Settlement Statements, Note, Mortgage, Loan Agreements, etc.) and other financial or legal document preparation.
- Proficiency in document management and document review, with attention to detail and accuracy in handling loan files and closings.
- Coordinating with title companies, loan processors, and loan officers to ensure efficient and timely closings.
- Works closely with legal department to ensure all commercial loan documents are accurate.
- Familiarity with mortgage lending processes, regulatory requirements, and basic legal terminology related to residential and commercial loans.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with standard office software.
- Effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with internal teams and external partners.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- 3-5 years of mortgage-related experience, with at least 1 year of loan document creation required.
- Prior experience in banking, closing, mortgage lending, or at a title company is preferred.
- Additional education or relevant certifications in finance, banking, or paralegal studies are a plus.
