Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Alterations Tailor to join our dynamic fashion retail team. In this role, you will be responsible for customizing and tailoring garments to meet our customers’ unique specifications, ensuring a perfect fit and exceptional quality. Your expertise in garment sewing, pressing, and garment construction will help deliver outstanding service and elevate our customers’ shopping experience. Responsibilities
- Perform alterations on a wide range of garments, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing clothing items.
- Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to achieve high-quality finishes.
- Operate pressing machines safely and efficiently to press garments for a polished appearance.
- Consult with customers to understand their alteration needs and provide expert advice on garment adjustments.
- Ensure all garments are constructed according to specifications, maintaining consistency in stitching and garment construction standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of sewing tools and pressing equipment.
- Assist in the production of custom apparel by following detailed measurements and sewing instructions, ensuring timely completion of each order.
Skills
- Proven experience in fashion retail or garment alterations with strong sewing skills.
- Proficiency in using sewing machines, hand sewing tools, and pressing machines.
- Knowledge of garment construction techniques and fabric handling.
- Ability to perform precise stitching, hemming, and fitting adjustments.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about alteration options.
- Basic math skills for measuring fabrics, taking accurate measurements, and calculating adjustments.
- Familiarity with pressing operations and maintaining press equipment safely.
