Primary Commodity Fund launched on January 1, 2025, and is approaching $1 billion in assets under management across more than 100 institutional and private investors. We trade physical critical minerals, base and specialty metals, and rare earth elements, complemented by exchange-listed futures and related instruments.
The team is intentionally small, “fewer than ten professionals across the Tri-State area and Bermuda” so every person carries real scope and direct exposure to the business.
We are hiring a Fund Operations Associate to work alongside the Head of Operations and the COO/CFO across the full operational lifecycle of the funds. This is a broad, hands-on middle-office role spanning trade operations, physical commodity operations, fund accounting, investor reporting, and regulatory compliance.
**What you'll do**
- Provide day-to-day middle-office trade support: trade capture, allocations, confirmations, and reconciliations within the trade management system (TMS), and help maintain the trade system
- Support physical commodity operations -tracking, logistics, and settlement of physical metals transactions with logistics brokers, warehouses, and other counterparties
- Prepare Business Day 1 (BD1) performance estimates for management and investors
- Prepare and review monthly P&L and support month-end close across the fund structure
- Assist the fund administrator with monthly NAV production, including pricing, valuation support, and reconciliation of positions and cash
- Support investor reporting, monthly statements, due diligence questionnaires, and the annual audit
- Assist with CFTC/NFA and Bermuda regulatory filings, recordkeeping, and compliance monitoring
- Help draft and maintain operational, compliance, and governance policies and procedures
**What we're looking for**
- 5+ years in trade operations, middle or back office, hedge fund operations, fund accounting, fund administration, or public accounting (financial services)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA, CFA, or Series 3 a plus
- Strong understanding of fund structures (master-feeder, fund-of-ones), NAV processes, and administrator oversight
- Commodities, futures, or physical commodity trading experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with CPO/CTA regulatory frameworks (CFTC/NFA) a plus
- Advanced Excel; comfortable working across order management, portfolio, and reconciliation systems
- Excellent written communication, you will draft policies and investor-facing materials
- Self-starter with sharp attention to detail and the flexibility to work across many functions in a small, entrepreneurial team
- Based within commuting distance of Manhattan and Darien, CT
