Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Yard Switcher / Combilift Operator to efficiently manage the movement and handling of 40’ and 45’ high-cube (HC) containers within our busy warehouse environment. In this role, you will operate specialized equipment such as Combilifts, reach trucks, forklifts, and clamp trucks to load, unload, and position containers accurately and safely. Your expertise will ensure smooth yard operations, optimize space utilization, and uphold the highest safety standards. Duties
- Safely operate Combilift machines, reach trucks, forklifts, Hi-Lo, clamp trucks, pallet jacks, and other heavy equipment to load and unload containers efficiently.
- Move 40’ and 45’ HC containers within the yard, stacking and positioning them according to operational needs while adhering to safety protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment for mechanical issues or repairs; perform basic troubleshooting and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist with order picking using warehouse management systems (WMS) and manual methods to fulfill shipping and receiving requirements accurately.
- Support warehouse management by organizing container placement for optimal space utilization and ensuring compliance with safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
- Participate in safety training sessions; follow all safety standards in production environments to prevent accidents during heavy lifting or equipment operation.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely load & unload processes while maintaining accurate documentation.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment including Combilift, reach truck, forklift, clamp truck, Hi-Lo, or similar machinery in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), shipping & receiving procedures, order picking processes, and materials handling techniques.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations related to forklift operation, manual handling, heavy lifting, and equipment repair.
- Prior warehouse experience involving heavy lifting tasks and manual handling is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment troubleshooting and repair is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations for inventory counts and shipment documentation.
- Experience in warehouse supervision or team leadership roles is advantageous but not required; a strong understanding of warehouse distribution operations is essential.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
