Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Diploma from accredited institution or community college is preferred
- Certification in Medical Assisting preferred
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Computer skills including knowledge of EMRs
- Competence with computerized health records and clinical documentation systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and moving throughout the workday.
- Ability to manipulate equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies.
- Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and assisting with patient transfers exceeding 100 pounds.
- Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity for clinical tasks.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
Experience:
- Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility or provider's office
- And/or documented evidence of externship in a medical office
- EKGs, vital signs, venipuncture experience is preferred
Physical Demands:
Medical Assistants may spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Bending or twisting of the body may also be a frequent occurrence.
