Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Litigation Defense Attorney to join our small but growing firm. In this role, you will be at the forefront of defending clients in complex cases involving civil rights, municipal law, professional liability and general tort defense. Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all phases of litigation defense, including case evaluation, strategy development, and courtroom proceedings.
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies.
- Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements with precision and clarity.
- Negotiate settlements and alternative dispute resolutions to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Collaborate with clients, witnesses, experts, and internal teams to gather evidence and build compelling cases.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Prepare for trial and participate at trial.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active licensure to practice in Illinois.
- Proven experience in litigation defense across multiple practice areas (4+ years)
- Strong research skills with proficiency in Westlaw for comprehensive legal analysis.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
