RN - Surgery
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide care for patients before, during, and after surgery.
Develop and implement nursing plan of care for surgery patients.
Prepare the OR prior to surgery
Assess patients prior to surgery and alleviate their concerns.
Prepare and position patient on OR table.
Monitor patient’s vital signs and detect any anomalies.
Assist surgeon during procedures.
Chart in patient EMR.
Collaborate with the surgical team and other medical professionals on patient medications and post-surgical care.
Evaluate patient in the post-operative phase.
Adhere to safety standards and precautions.
Provide patients with post-surgical care and discharge instructions.
Assume other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess exceptional knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment, as well as sterile and aseptic techniques.
Proficiency in developing and implementing perioperative nursing care plans.
Ability to collaborate with surgical teams and healthcare specialists.
Handle high stress situations, show good reasoning and judgement, and function as a team player.
In-depth knowledge of best practices in healthcare.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a current Registered Nurse license to practice in Louisiana.
Must have current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Two years of surgery or medically related environment experience preferred.
