Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, on over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or truck loading equipment, ensuring cargo integrity and safety
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and maintain accurate delivery schedules
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations when handling dangerous goods or hazardous materials (Hazmat)
- Manage the transportation of refrigerated trailers, ensuring proper temperature control during transit
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking for mechanical issues and proper documentation
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, and delivery records in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate freight movement, route planning, and delivery schedules
Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving
- Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles and manual handling procedures
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for dangerous goods
- Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment preferred
- Strong understanding of GPS navigation systems and logistics cargo handling techniques
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently while maintaining safety standards
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, compliance, and customer service
