About Us
Precision Blinds and Drapery is a factory-direct window treatment company serving the Chicago market. Because we manufacture and source direct, we deliver better pricing and faster lead times than the big-box and franchise competition. Our work spans custom residential homes and large multifamily and commercial projects, including recent installations of several hundred units. Product lines include roller and solar shades, motorized systems, woven woods, cellular and roman shades, blinds, shutters, and custom drapery.
We are growing our builder, developer, and design-trade program and are hiring a Sales Associate to help lead that growth while also serving our incoming residential customers.
The Role
This is a two-channel sales position:
1. **Trade development (outbound).** Build and manage relationships with interior designers, builders, developers, architects, general contractors, and property managers across Chicagoland. You'll open new trade accounts and turn them into repeat business.
2. **Residential sales (inbound).** Run company-provided leads. You'll go into homes, measure, present product options, quote, and close. No cold calling required on this side — the leads come to you.
The right person enjoys both sides: the relationship-building of trade sales and the design conversation that happens in a customer's living room.
What You'll Do
**Trade & builder accounts**
- Prospect and call on design firms, builder offices, architecture studios, GCs, and multifamily developers in your territory
- Present our factory-direct pricing, product lines, and trade program; deliver samples and specification support
- Read plans and specs, prepare bids and takeoffs for multi-unit and commercial projects
- Coordinate with our production and installation teams on scheduling, fabric approvals, and site logistics
- Attend industry events, showroom appointments, and job walks
- Maintain an accurate pipeline and consistent follow-up with every account
**Residential leads**
- Run in-home consultations from company-supplied leads
- Measure windows accurately and recommend the right product, fabric, opening system, and motorization
- Prepare and present quotes, close the sale, and collect deposits
- Manage the customer from order through installation, keeping them informed at every step
- Follow up for reviews and referrals
What We're Looking For
**Required**
- Comfort selling to both homeowners and trade professionals
- Strong measuring and math skills; attention to detail (a wrong measurement is a remake)
- Professional presentation and communication, written and verbal
- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel throughout Chicagoland
- Ability to lift and carry sample books and materials, and use a ladder for measuring
- Comfortable with CRM, email, and quoting software
**Preferred**
- 2+ years of sales experience — window treatments, flooring, kitchen and bath, furniture, building products, or another in-home or design-adjacent category preferred
- Existing relationships with Chicago-area designers, builders, or contractors
- Familiarity with motorization (Somfy, A-OK, or similar), solar shade openness factors, and fabric specification
- Experience quoting multi-unit or commercial projects
- Bilingual (Spanish, Russian, Hebrew, or Polish) a plus in this market
## Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $[X] plus commission — realistic first-year earnings of $[X]–$[X]
- Uncapped commission on both trade and residential sales
- Company-provided leads at no cost to you
- Mileage or vehicle allowance
- Samples, marketing materials, and product training provided
- Growth path into account management or sales leadership as the builder program scales
