Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Middle School / JV Volleyball Coach to inspire and develop young athletes in a dynamic school environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to lead volleyball teams, foster teamwork, and promote sportsmanship among middle school students. The coach will be responsible for planning practices, guiding game strategies, and creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages growth both on and off the court. Passion for youth development, sports coaching, and physical education is essential to thrive in this role.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute engaging volleyball practices that develop fundamental skills, teamwork, and game tactics.
- Lead middle school and junior varsity volleyball teams during practices and competitions, ensuring a safe and motivating environment.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote discipline, respect, and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and athletic directors to support student-athletes’ academic and athletic success.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth.
- Monitor student-athletes’ physical health and safety during practices and games; ensure proper warm-up and injury prevention protocols are followed.
- Maintain accurate records of team activities, player attendance, and performance progress.
Skills
- Proven experience in sports coaching with a focus on volleyball; prior experience with middle school or youth sports is preferred.
- Strong background in physical education or teaching physical activity; experience with teaching or working with children is highly valued.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to motivate students and maintain discipline on the court.
- Familiarity with other sports such as basketball, cheerleading, climbing, judo, karate, swimming or martial arts enhances coaching versatility.
- Ability to lead by example in demonstrating sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive communication skills.
- Experience working in health clubs or gyms is a plus for understanding athlete conditioning and fitness routines.
