Purchasing Agent Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, negotiating contracts, and supporting supply chain operations to ensure efficient workflow and inventory management. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials, equipment, and services required for operations and production
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to secure favorable agreements
- Collaborate with internal departments to determine purchasing needs and timelines
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and service
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate stock replenishment to prevent shortages or overstock situations
- Perform routine inventory counts and product verification; maintaining accurate inventory levels is a critical and essential function of this role
- Conduct market research to identify new vendors, products, and industry trends
- Analyze pricing proposals and supplier performance to support informed purchasing decisions
- Coordinate logistics activities including shipping, transportation, and delivery scheduling
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, vendor information, contracts, and inventory activity
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and operational efficiencies
- Support additional operational and administrative duties as assigned
- Perform routine inventory counts and product verification with a high degree of accuracy; maintaining precise inventory levels is a critical responsibility and essential to the success of daily operations
- Ensure discrepancies are identified, reported, and resolved promptly to maintain inventory integrity and operational efficiency
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management principles
- Experience with sourcing strategies and vendor negotiations
- Knowledge of inventory management and production planning systems (AS400 experience preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
- Knowledge of logistics and warehouse operations is a plus
- Ability to adapt to increasing responsibilities and evolving operational needs
