The Child Development Worker I will be responsible for the direct care and supervision of children. Child Development Centers provide services to children 0-5 years of age who have parents enrolled in a SHIELDS program.
Provide direct care and supervision of the children.
Provide a safe and healthy environment in a nurturing manner.
Assist toddlers in spoon-feeding themselves; bottle-feed infants, diaper change when necessary and basic child development duties. Monitor food intake or special diets.
Help children develop habits of caring for their own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books.
Assist clients with dressing, grooming, bathing, and other personal hygiene for their infants and children.
Maintain daily documentation- sign in sheet, changing and eating logs, daily progress notes
Maintain client charts; file all progress notes, and important client specific documentation-immunizations, medical reports, school reports, court documents, other relevant client documents.
Conduct and maintain ASQs for assigned caseload
Provide appropriate referrals and linkages, and follow up
Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care.
Promote verbal communication to develop the children's social skills and comprehension of the subject matter.
Foster cooperative social behavior through games to assist children in forming relationships with other children.
Review individual group activities with Child Development Supervisor to stimulate learning according to the age of the children.
Provide developmentally appropriate activities center wide.
Participation in case conferences as required.
Facilitate individual and group sessions with caregivers, social worker, and other identified supports.

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of twelve (12) child development units.
Minimum 1 year working with children in a child development or teaching setting.
The employee in this position must be able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of him/her or others.
Position may require co-location at one of the Family Resource Centers located throughout SPA 6.
