Diesel Mechanic Summary:
In this role, the Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and rebuilding diesel engines and related systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with diesel diagnostics, engine overhauls, turbochargers, and parts identification. This is a hands-on position requiring strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to perform both in-shop and field service repairs. Opportunities may be available for mobile mechanic work utilizing a company-provided service truck.
Diesel Mechanic Pay Rate: $30-$45/hr. DOE
Diesel Mechanic Hours: Monday - Friday, Day Shift
Diesel Mechanic Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, drivetrains, and related mechanical systems.
- Perform engine rebuilds, overhauls, and major component replacements.
- Troubleshoot and repair turbocharger systems and components.
- Utilize diagnostic software, scanners, and testing equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues.
- Complete preventative maintenance and inspection services.
- Accurately identify, source, and replace parts as needed.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
- Maintain detailed service records and repair documentation.
- Perform hydraulic, fuel, cooling, and exhaust system repairs.
- Test equipment and vehicles following repairs to ensure proper operation.
- Respond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs when necessary.
- Operate safely and follow all company and OSHA safety standards.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and professional.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations with management and customers.
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced technicians as needed.
Diesel Mechanic Basic Requirements:
- 5-10+ years of diesel mechanic experience required.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting experience.
- Extensive diesel engine repair and rebuild experience.
- Proven experience working with turbochargers and related systems.
- Knowledge of diesel parts, components, and sourcing procedures.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
- Must possess and maintain own mechanic tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
