Position Summary
The Senior Assistant Director for Residence and Campus Life (AD) is responsible for the administration of multiple residential areas housing 300-600 students and 10-15 Residential Student Leaders (RSLs) and for managing one functional area within Campus Life and Leadership; such as Housing Operations, Residential Experience & Leadership, Student Engagement & Activities, Case Management & Conduct. The Senior Assistant Director is an essential part of the professional staff within Campus Life and Leadership responsible for working together with other ADs and Student Development professionals to deliver a positive residential experience and impactful extra-curricular activities to students. ADs provide on-going support for the work being done by the Student Development division.
This is a full time 12 month live-In position and requires the ADs to reside on-campus in an assigned residence hall and participate in an on-call duty schedule. Furnished on campus apartment is provided which includes utilities, WIFI and a meal plan.

Develop goals, timelines, processes, policies and assessment measures specific to the tasks and needs of the assigned functional area.
Collaborate with campus partners to improve student support, engagement, and operational effectiveness that relate to the assigned functional area.
Prepare reports, track participation or case trends, and make recommendations for process improvements related to the assigned functional area.
Community Development/Programming
Enhance the College’s traditions and common social experiences through programming.
Foster community & student development in the context of a Catholic, Jesuit college.
Promote and maintain a positive community and living environment conducive to interpersonal interactions, wellness, study, rest, and mutual respect among residents.
Interact in-person, on-line and virtually with students and staff on a regular basis.
Coordinate and implement floor, hall, area and campus-wide programming
Support divisional efforts related to student belonging, persistence, retention, and wellness through proactive outreach, programming, referrals, and collaboration with campus partners.
Use student engagement data, housing records, conduct trends, assessment results, and student feedback to identify needs, improve programs, and support retention and belonging.
Train, supervise, schedule, support and evaluate RSLs.
Conduct staff meetings and on-going supervision of RSLs.
Develop, present workshops and track in-service trainings for RSLs.
Advise residents, student leaders and student groups as needed.
Oversee budgets, track programming and support RSLs.
Student Conduct
Communicate and enforce College and residence hall policies and procedures to students.
Ensure RSLs follow and enforce College and residence hall policies and procedures.
Challenge, confront and follow-up with residents about negative behavior and vandalism.
Adjudicate disciplinary cases, maintain records of incidents and follow-up as necessary.
Communicate the rights and responsibilities of individuals living in the community.
Coordinate the opening and closing of the residence halls before and after breaks.
Report, follow up and maintain records on maintenance and housekeeping problems.
Investigate damage, assign responsibility and coordinate health & safety checks
Assist in the evacuation of residence halls during fire drills, emergencies and alarms.
Maintain an accurate roster of residents in assigned areas and assist with room changes.
Crisis & Conflict Management
Attend to the health and safety of residents in medical, psychological and crisis situations.
Be knowledgeable of campus resources, emergency response plan and protocols.
Demonstrate accessibility and approachability to students and make appropriate referrals.
Show sensitivity and responsiveness to students’ emotional, personal and academic needs.
Participate in a rotating professional staff on-call duty schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and college breaks, responding to student crises, facility concerns, conduct incidents, and other urgent residential matters.
General Responsibilities
Requires flexibility in work schedule, includes some evening and weekend responsibilities.
Participate in various departmental and divisional meetings, events and trainings.
Interact with parents, faculty, staff & students and in a cooperative, supportive manner.
Participate in and assist with staff development activities and training opportunities.
Participation in departmental and college committees as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters in Higher Education or related field preferred
5+ years of experience in residence life, student activities, or related area in a college setting
Strong administrative, communication, time management and organizational skills
Willingness to intervene in difficult situations and deal with conflict, connect with others
Experience training, programming, presenting workshops and advising groups
