Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling, with a passion for providing high-quality veterinary services. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures while ensuring the comfort and well-being of our animal patients. Must be able to learn how to intubate.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians in performing examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
- Provide nursing care to animals, including administering medications and monitoring vital signs.
- Utilize veterinary terminology and knowledge of animal physiology to communicate effectively with the veterinary team.
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results to assist in diagnosing animal health issues.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training practices.
- Perform dental cleanings and understand dental terminology related to veterinary practices.
- Ensure cleanliness of the clinic environment by following aseptic techniques and maintaining equipment.
- Provide support in kennel management, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience in a veterinary setting or related field. The following skills are highly desirable:
- Veterinary technician experience with knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
- Experience with animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and critical care.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equine experience is a plus.
