Reports to: Head of School / Department Chair
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
· Genuine liking of teenager and an understanding of their development
· Present lessons in a comprehensive and engaging manner using a variety of tools and methods to enable learning
· Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
· Administer meaningful assessments that measure student comprehension
· Understand and support Grier’s school policies and procedures
· Willingness to follow directions and to think outside of the box
· Ability to adapt to teaching styles and materials
· Enthusiasm for teaching as a profession and for the material and skills being taught
· Six weekend duties, in addition to Opening Weekend, Parent’s Weekend, and Graduation
· Perform all other duties as required
Academic Classroom and other Job Requirements:
· Keep the channels of communication open between Learning Skills faculty, private tutor, and student support consultant
- Maintain a Canvas dashboard for each course taught and update it on a weekly basis.
- Update homework sheets on a weekly basis.
· Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
· Create, plan, and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events that promote learning
· Maintain an inviting learning environment that meets the guidelines of the school
· Check your Grier email on a daily basis
· Attend specified department and/or faculty meetings
· Attend activities and events in the evenings and on the weekends as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject
· Master’s degree preferred
· Thorough knowledge of teaching practices and legal educational guidelines
· Well-organized, creative, and energetic
· On-going professional development
