Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental care, patient education, and infection control protocols. Duties
- Perform dental prophylaxis, periodontal therapy, and other preventive dental services with precision and care.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history review, to ensure safe treatment planning.
- Take and develop dental x-rays using digital imaging equipment while maintaining radiation safety standards.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, dental care routines, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal oral health.
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, and pediatric dentistry treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately, including documentation review and medical coding for billing purposes.
- Maintain infection prevention management by adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols in compliance with healthcare standards.
- Operate dental equipment efficiently, including ultrasonic scalers, curing lights, and sterilization tools.
- Ensure patient comfort throughout visits by providing compassionate care and addressing concerns effectively.
- Uphold HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times and managing sensitive medical records securely.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is preferred; familiarity with pediatric-specific protocols is a plus.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly during various dental procedures.
- Expertise in medical imaging techniques including X-ray interpretation and digital radiography.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices, including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate patients effectively about their oral health needs.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation review and medical records management.
- Understanding of medical terminology relevant to dentistry and patient care documentation.
