SUMMARY
The Residential Youth Counselor (RYC) plays a key role in transforming the lives and futures of the young people who live on JCCA’s campus, by building positive and trusting relationships with youth, while keeping them safe and supported by their peers in a therapeutic environment. This is an hourly UNION position.
With many opportunities for professional training and growth, this position is ideal for individuals seeking a comprehensive, foundational position in behavioral health, as well as for those with previous experience caring for youth in a residential setting.
The Residential Treatment Campus is located in Pleasantville, NY.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and support youth in residential cottages, during on-site programming, and on community outings
- Engage youth in therapeutic, recreational, and skill-building activities
- Transport and accompany youth to recreational activities, appointments, and home visits
- Assist with daily living needs, including hygiene routines, meals, appropriate dress for school/activities, and maintaining clean living spaces
- Teach and coach youth in life skills such as problem-solving, emotional regulation, communication, self-care, and responsibility
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating healthy boundaries, respectful communication, and pro-social behavior
- Build supportive, strengths-based relationships with youth using encouragement and positive reinforcement
- Utilize approved intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure safety
- Collaborate with team members, clinicians, and families to support treatment goals
- Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports as required
**This is a 24/7 operation offering a variety of Full-Time and Part-Time shifts**
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED Required (AA or BA preferred)
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must pass background checks and complete on-site Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training
- Must have an interest in working with Youth and Young Adults in a residential setting
- Valid New York, New Jersey or Connecticut Driver’s License Preferred

Pay: $18.50 - $23.00 per hour
