Lead Installation Technician – AV, Networking, & Smart Home

Your Role
We’re seeking a skilled Lead Technician to take charge of residential and commercial AV/networking installs. You'll start part-time (with 10–40 hrs/week depending on workload and skill level) and may move to full-time as we grow.
Minimum Experience & Skills:
- 3+ years in low-voltage, A/V, networking, or security system installation
- Proven experience as a lead or senior installer
- Must be fully capable of completing full installations independently from start to finish
- Strong knowledge of wiring, mounting, network configuration, and signal troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret install diagrams, blueprints, or scope-of-work documents
- Proficiency with tools including saws, drills, cable testers, tone generators, crimpers, and labelers
Technical Skills Required:
- Advanced TV mounting (sheetrock, brick, fireplace, ceiling)
- In-ceiling/in-wall speaker installation
- CAT5/CAT6 and coaxial wiring
- Camera system install and NVR/DVR setup
- Wi-Fi mesh system and access point installs
- Smart home device integration (locks, thermostats, lights)
- Advanced universal remote programming (URC, Harmony, RTI, or similar)
- Rack installation and cable management best practices
Work Ethic & Professionalism:
- Must be confident taking ownership of jobs without supervision or assistance
- Clean, professional appearance with excellent customer-facing etiquette
- Strong time management and job documentation habits
- Comfortable mentoring helpers and coordinating with electricians
- Self-motivated, dependable, and organized
- Must be able to lift 70+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in attics/crawlspaces
Licensing & Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must pass background check and drug test
- Must own reliable smartphone for job apps and communication
Bonus Qualifications (Preferred, Not Required):
- Texas electrical apprentice or journeyman license
- Experience with Lutron, Control4, Sonos, or similar platforms
- Previous experience with job management tools (Sortly, Jobber, Google Calendar)
Compensation & Terms
- Pay: $80–$30/hr (based on experience)
- Type: 1099 Contractor | 90-Day Trial Period
- Hours: 10–40 hours/week depending on projects (possible full time within first 90 days)
- Equipment: Company van/tools provided for job use
