Job Summary
The PCD Brazing Technician will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and brazing PCD inserts into tool bodies using induction brazing techniques. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to quality and safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently with specialized tooling. The key objective of this position is to braze parts using the appropriate equipment and tools, in accordance with the technical instructions and complying with the quality requirements established in the standards and codes specific to the activity and respecting the rules of safety, hygiene and health at work and environmental protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and Setup
- Analyze and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and diagrams related to tool brazing.
- Select and prepare PCD inserts, carbide, or steel tool bodies for the brazing process.
- Ensure proper alignment and positioning of PCD bits before brazing.
- Brazing and Bonding
- Perform induction brazing to join PCD inserts to tool bodies, ensuring strong and precise bonding.
- Use appropriate fluxes, filler materials, and heating methods for different tool applications.
- Maintain consistent heat control to avoid thermal damage to materials.
- Conduct cleaning, oxidation removal, and degreasing of tools before and after brazing.
- Quality Control and Inspection
- Inspect brazed tools for bond strength, alignment, and quality compliance.
- Use measurement and control instruments to verify precision.
- Follow industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Equipment Maintenance and Process Improvement
- Maintain and troubleshoot brazing equipment, tools, and workstations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for process efficiency.
- Follow workplace safety, hygiene, and environmental protection guidelines.
Position Requirements
Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience in brazing, welding, or similar metal-joining techniques (induction brazing experience preferred).
- Knowledge of PCD tooling, carbide, and metal bonding technologies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Prior experience in precision manufacturing or cutting tool fabrication is a plus.
Education & Certifications
- High school diploma (12th grade) or equivalent required.
- Technical certification in welding, brazing, or machining preferred.
